Plot

The Loss of a Friend

[Footsteps echoed. The scene opened up into a grey-scale temple. The living and remaining evil Al-Ternates stood side by side in a row, each with their heads down and looking disconcerted. The footsteps were revealed to be someone pacing before them. The pacing stopped and the person spoke.]

We're waiting on an answer...

[The scene panned up, showing the person pacing to have been Two-Face, glaring at the group.]

Two-Face: ...Nobody?

[The group remained silent, all of them seeming too scared to respond.]

Two-Face: ...Fine.

[Two-Face looked over the group, studying each of them. They then put their hand out.]

Two-Face: You. Come.

[The Al-Ternates looked at each other before realizing that Two-Face was specifying Society Alan. He looked at the others, then his eyes shifted towards Two-Face. Gulping, Society Alan apprehensively stepped forward, inching closer towards Two-Face with each step. A deafening silence came over the room as Society Alan reached Two-Face... only for it to be broken by the sound of Society Alan's laugh as he was thrown to the ground by a backhanded hit from Two-Face, who then kicked Society Alan in the stomach multiple times, resulting in even more laughter.]

Two-Face: When we ask a question, we expect a clear and concise answer. We not only gave you a simple task, but we also gave you more than enough means to carry out that task by teaming all of you up together. So we're going to ask again: How is that, not only have you returned with less than what you left with, but you returned to us without the Alan Nomaly of Earth-1799.A?

[Silence fell across them again, only for Scavenger Alan to step forward.]

Scavenger Alan: If our task was so simple, then why didn't you bother joining us? Better yet, why not just do it yourself?

[Two-Face's eyes narrowed as they tilted their head.]

Two-Face: Are you implying that your failure is our fault?

[The rest of the Al-Ternats, save for the still guffawing Society Alan, had distanced themselves some from Scavenger Alan, terrified.]

Scavenger Alan: ...Ye-

[Scavenger Alan found himself being flung across the room, hitting the back wall and falling to the ground, groaning in pain. Looking back up, he saw that Two-Face had turned into a fusion of Rath and Negative Fasttrack. Rathtrack growled before becoming human again.]

Two-Face: ...You're a leader on your Earth, yes? You've been lionized, and when you die, you'll be considered a martyr by your people. So you must understand our frustration when someone beneath us decides to talk back. Now. Would anyone like to give us a real answer?

[After yet another few moments of silence, Drahcir stepped forward.]

Drahcir: Our divisions were... not ideal. The ones we lost were the ones we sent after that Earth's Alan, and they proved themselves incompetent. The rest of us went after his allies and... We were caught off guard by the presence of a Richard Nomaly.

[Two-Face's stoic anger subsided with a look of confused surprise. They thought silently as Drahcir continued.]

Drahcir: That Earth's Richard distracted us with his own plans. But he should be out of the picture now. Not to mention Alan and his friends are vulnerable after all the damage done. If you could allow us to return-

Two-Face: No.

[The Al-Ternates looked at each other confused.]

Drahcir: Why not? We have an opportunity-

Two-Face: We can't send you back. We're very much aware how easy it would be to take Nomaly now, especially with him reeling with the death of Lorenzo, but... We physically cannot send you back to Earth-1799.A. Any of you.

Emo Alan: ...What does that mean?

Two-Face: You've all been banished by Alan Nomaly. His rash actions with the usage of Apeiroaza form resulted in the banishment of anyone in that area from returning to Earth-1799.A. Anyone considered an enemy that is. And that wasn't a native to that Earth as is. You're free to go about any other Earth's as you please, but not that one.

[The Al-Ternates looked disheartened, only for Two-Face to continue.]

Two-Face: However. All is not lost. Young Alistair Nomaly was left in Earth-1799.A after being separated from the other group. Perhaps there's a chance for him to carry out the quest. In the meantime, we'll step in to see if there's anything that can be... salvaged.

Scavenger Alan: What about the rest of us?

[Two-Face pondered for a moment, looking over all of those in front of them.]

Two-Face: ...Return to your rooms, and thusly your Earth's. I'll be in touch when you're needed again. ...If you're needed again.

[The Al-Ternates nodded, and Society Alan went to sit up, only to be stopped when Two-Face put their hand out.]

Two-Face: Not you. We're... going to have a talk.

[The rest of them left the room, nervously and apprehensively looking back at Two-Face and Society Alan as the door closes. The sound of two Simplicitrixes activating was heard, and then the slicing of flesh not long after, with Society Alan's maniacal laughter covering his pain.]

[Rain. Constant rain. Alan stared solemnly out the window. A patch of ground becomes drenched in the continuous precipitation.]
